On Saturday, April 3, 2021, twenty-two people and two dogs picked up plastic at the Georgica Gut for one hour. All the collected plastic was sorted into categories.
It was a beautiful day and spirits were high. Everyone who participated was surprised that plastic bottle caps were the most common plastic item discovered, followed by plastic fragments. Fishing gear, cigar tips and plastic cutlery were also very common. The data were entered into the Surfrider Foundation‘s national beach clean up database.
