The Village of East Hampton has installed special filters in the storm drains along Cove Hollow Road and throughout the Village. The filters, manufactured by a Long Island company called Fabco Industries, Inc., are designed to kill bacteria, including fecal bacteria and reduce other contaminants and nutrients.

The filters are helping, but not enough, as high bacterial counts continue to be measured. A new study underway supported by the Village and the Community Preservation Fund (CPF) will identify additional options to improve water quality entering Georgica Cove from the Cove Hollow pipe.
