Dr. Brad Peterson of the Peterson Lab at Stony Brook University’s School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences (SOMAS) and his Ph.D. student, Stephen Heck, spent a week on the pond in September after the pond had closed. They sampled fish, invertebrates and submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV). The weather cooperated and both traps and seines were used to sample. A specialized 2-sided rake was used to sample the vegetation on the pond bottom. The work in September was an exact repeat of sampling done in June when the pond was open.
